Great Falls Model Railroad Club

Welcome to the
Great Falls Model Railroad Club
of Lewiston and Auburn, Maine

Our purpose is to help promote model railroading as a hobby and an opportunity for community outreach. The club’s main focus is to help educate, not only from our members’ knowledge of model railroading but also for the public’s safety at railroad crossings and on railroad right-of-way areas through our involvement in Operation Lifesaver.

We are a 501(c)(3) organization; any donations may be tax-deductible.

Most members come from the Lewiston-Auburn area, but everyone is welcome to join.

We are open to the public!  Come visit us:
Wednesday 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Saturday 9:00 a.m. until Noon

Other hours by appointment: Contact us HERE.

Regular Club Meetings are the third Thursday of each month at 6:45 p.m. We will begin showing videos at 6:30 p.m. Come join us!

Next meeting is Thursday, January 20.

We mourn the passing of our friend George Pitchard shortly after ExTRAINaganza.

RIP George Pitchard

We mourn the passing of our friend and Librarian/Archivist George Pitchard, who took the highball to the great beyond shortly after ExTRAINaganza.

George was a life-long railway enthusiast and a true encyclopedia of arcane narrow-gauge lore, which he studied in depth throughout much of his life.

A talented modeler, George was largely responsible for creating our O Gauge layout which brought forth many smiles from young and old alike. We will miss his many skills and dry wit, but every time a wheel turns on the O Gauge, he will be there in our hearts… Rest in Peace, old friend.

ExTRAINaganza 2021 was a huge success! We had a great time, and if smiles were any indication, everyone else did too!

Check out what the Sun Journal had to say here.

We like to have our younger (and sometimes young at heart) visitors write their names on a train and put it on our tree. At the end of ExTRAINaganza, we have a wonderful tree decorated with the names of the young folks who have come to see us!
